What Sophie did in 2013

I can't quite believe that 2013 is almost over. This time last year, I could not stop feeling disappointed with how 2012 went for me and wanted to make sure that 2013 was much more successful and enjoyable than 2012. I wanted to be able to reflect on 2013 and be proud of what I had accomplished. I wanted to be able to say that I had fun and felt more comfortable in my own skin. I posted here about what my 2013 new years resolutions were. Although I didn't achieve all of them or only achieved them for a limited amount of time, I'm still proud of how far I've come over the last year and can safely say that 2013 was a good year...
Although school granted us no snow days, we were sent home early on a Friday with the whole weekend to look forward to. I visited my sister at university for her 19th birthday. I made amazing, new friends. I saw fireworks. I became best friends with my best friends' (Amy) dog. I went down to Devon to see all of my family. I cherished my cat (although unfortunately he died in May, RIP Louie). I had fun at school. In the Easter holidays I visited Highclere Castle (where they film Downton Abbey) and toured the grounds and inside the house. I went to London for the day with Amy to watch my Dad run his 4th marathon. I became best friends forever with my Amy's dog.
In May half term I went to Bournemouth with Olivia and Amy where we played crazy golf, went shopping, went on some rides and chilled by the beach. Olivia and I cheered on Amy and her family in a fun run on the local airports' runway. I went to prom. I enjoyed the hot weather and cooled down using the sprinklers in my garden. I visited pretty places in the lovely weather. Olivia and I camped out in my back garden which we posted about here. On Olivia's birthday we went to Chessington World of Adventures where I relived my childhood and went on a cool, safari ride. I went to the Lake District with my family where I sat with Noddy. I walked around most of the lakes and my sister and I posed for a picture...prom style. I passed all my GCSEs and surprised myself with amazing grades. Olivia, Amy, Alice and I celebrated our results by going out for a meal. I travelled down to Devon again and took a picture of the famous Crapstone which is just up the road from my families' house.
I turned 17. I was reunited in Devon with the whole of my family on my mums' side for the first time in years. Also in Devon, I discovered my uncle was growing a GIANT pumpkin. We got a new cat called Missy who made herself at home very quickly. I went to more pretty places. In October half term I went to Fright Night at Thorpe Park with Amy and Alice which was so much fun. I had a fun Halloween with Olivia and Alice. I began learning to drive (I actually started to learn how to drive before Halloween but I switched the order of the pictures round...my bad). My town switched on their Christmas lights and I went on some really cool rides with my friends. I went to see Catching Fire which was my favourite film of 2013. My favourite dog in the whole wide world. I started getting ready for Christmas. I went ice skating and shopping in Winchester with Amy which was a lot of fun. The sky was beautiful one evening in December. I had a fabulous Christmas with my family (me and my sister wore Christmas jumpers the whole day).

2013 was a good year. I had fun. I achieved lots. But it wasn't an easy year. I had a couple of rocky patches along the way and I stressed about my GCSE exams and that's okay. Try not to focus on the negatives. Focus on the positives and you'll feel much better when reflecting on 2013.

Although its a little bit daunting heading into a new year, its a fresh start and a clean slate. I already have some things to look forward to next year. So whenever I next feel down I'm just going to think of those fun things lined up and I advise you to do the same.

My new years resolutions for 2014 -

  • Blog more often
  • Get a gym membership
  • Eat healthier
  • Do more chores around the house
  • Get a job
  • Study hard
  • FOCUS ON THE POSITIVES AND BE HAPPY

I wish you all the best for 2014 and hope it's a good year for you. Let me know in the comments your highlights of 2013 and your new years resolutions for 2014.

What I got for Christmas 2013

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I ate far too much food, spent time with my family and watched plenty of films on TV. I decided to show you some of the gifts that I received for Christmas because I absoloutely love to read blog posts or watch youtube videos about what other people got for Christmas. I would just like to firmly state that I am not bragging or showing off at all at what I got, but just thought it would be nice to document and share with you. I am incredibly grateful for the gifts my family gave me and I do feel very lucky.
A few weeks ago I went shopping with my family and we all picked out a perfume/aftershave that we wanted for the next year. After what seemed like hours in Debenhams, I eventually decided on Daisy by Marc Jacobs as it smells wonderful. It's not overpowering but its sophisticated and definitely noticeable. In my stocking, Santa surprised me with two essie nail polishes. It's slightly annoying as the names of the polishes aren't on them, but I really like the colours. One is a pretty shade of purple/blue and another is a dirty, dark grey/green. I had my previous laptop for over 3 years and it was beginning to freeze and overheat constantly, so my lovely parents purchased a white, Sony laptop which I have fallen in love with.
My sister also received the same laptop and her keyboard lights up, but for some reason mine doesn't. I've googled how to make it light up for the last few days and experimented with the settings but still can't work it out. If anyone has the same problem or knows how to make the keyboard light up, please let me know! Other than that, it's perfect! I've recently become obsessed with Tumblr again. You can follow me here.
I love rings and so my mum got me three sets of beautiful gold and silver rings from River Island. Most of them are midi rings which I adore. I've been admiring this gold, chunky chain necklace for a while as I love how they can transform a simple outfit into something a bit more glamourous and trendy.
Next summer, I'm going to Orlando in Florida for a couple of weeks with my family. My parents gave me and my sister this waterproof camera to document the fun we will have when we're there (swimming with dolphins, water parks and snorkelling etc) which I think is such a brilliant idea! I also got the Disney Princess CD with songs ranging from Tangled to Beauty and the Beast so that by the time I go to Disney World I'll know all the lyrics to the songs.
I love Made In Chelsea and I love all the songs that feature on the show so my sister bought me the Made In Chelsea soundtrack which I'm super excited about. My favourite tracks on the album are "Midnight City", "In Your Car", "Drink, Dance, Play", "Summer", "Full Circle" and "Enjoy the Silence". This year I watched all of the Avenger films for the first time and soon became addicted so my parents gave me all my favourites; Thor, Iron man (1, 2 and 3) and The Avengers. I went to see We're the Millers at the cinema and I couldn't stop laughing the whole time so Santa decided to give me it, yay.

Once again, I'd just like to state that I am not boasting. I feel very lucky and have thanked my family for their amazing and generous gifts. I'd love to hear what you guys got for Christmas so please feel free to leave a comment.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

I absolutely love the lead up to Christmas, and this year is no exception. I'm not usually excited for Christmas day however, as it tends to go a little bit too quickly for my liking, but this year I'm so enthusiastic like a 7 year old child. This year I chose to buy a few extra Christmas decorations for my bedroom which makes my room feel a bit more cosier in the evenings.

This candle smells absolutely delicious. I can't even describe its scent, but wow, its good! I'm slightly upset though as I've lit it so frequently over the last year or two that it's nearly all gone.
I bought these beautiful 'xmas' and 'love' signs from Tesco for £1 each which I thought was a total bargain! I love to snuggle in bed with my fairy lights wrapped around my headboard at this time of year.
Fun fact: I've had this snow globe and Christmas tree since forever basically and when I was younger I genuinely thought there were real presents attached to the tree so I used to open them all, only to be disappointed when I found cubes of polystyrene. I bought these tea light holders from Poundland.
How adorable are my Christmas, fair isle paper chains I purchased last year from Cath Kidston?
I can't remember where this 'Merry Christmas' banner was from but I adore it!

I hope you're all well and are having a fantastic lead up to Christmas! See you soon,

I Heart Autumn Tag

Hey everyone! Long time no see. I'm not going to apologise for our absence because we always seem to say sorry hundreds of times after being MIA and it gets annoying (but I do apologise anyway). We've been extremely busy with work at the moment as we started college in September. A Levels are such a huge step from GCSE!! However, it's now October half term and although we've got even more homework/coursework to do, I decided to do the autumn tag!

Favourite thing about autumn?
I absoloutely love how the trees transform into beautiful shades of golden orange and vivid reds. Snuggling up in bed with a good book/magazine in the evenings with fairy lights glowing around the room and being able to hear the wind and the rain outside. I also like carving pumpkins and bonfire night when the sky bursts with colour whilst you huddle in a group and stare upwards and all you can smell is smoke and delicious food being cooked.

Favourite drink?
I've never been one to like warm drinks but I tried my friends' hot chocolate from Starbucks the other day and I surprisingly loved it. I'd love to experiment with marshmallows and sprinkles, but I've recently given up chocolate until advent starts so hot chocolate will have to wait until December unfortunately.

Favourite scent/candle?
I love the smoky smell of bonfires and firework night, but of course I also love Yankee candles! Vanilla candles smell absoloutely delicious.

Favourite colour?
Autumn is just a perfect excuse to wear darker clothing and this has influenced my favourite colours this season. I adore oxblood (all year round to be honest), brown, dark blues and greens. Not typically red, orange, yellow but all set for winter!

Favourite fashion trend?
This season I'm in love with tartan but not the typical red tartan, more like this tartan from Urban Outfitters. I stomp around in boots all year round but they're perfect for autumn too. The temperature hasn't quite dropped enough yet to wear chunky knit scarves yet, but I can't wait to begin layering them with my outfits when the temperature begins to cool soon.
ahhh Fall

Favourite TV show?
I can't narrow it down to just one, so here is a list of TV shows I can't wait for/am currently enjoying: The Originals, The Vampire Diaries, Arrow, New Girl, I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! and Downton Abbey.

Favourite Music to listen to?
Hmm, at the moment I love Arctic Monkeys particularly Knee Socks and Fireside. I also love the song Wide Eyes by Local Natives. I mainly search 'autumn' and 'indie' into 8tracks and listen to all the mixes on there. Check out my account to see what my favourite mixes and songs are.

Favourite film?
It's not even out yet, but I'm dead excited for Thor 2 to come out on Wednesday. My two friends and I are planning to go see it on the day it comes out eek!!

I hope you enjoyed my autumn tag. I tag anyone to do it!!! Thanks for reading.

College/Autumn Haul

I went shopping yesterday for college clothes for the colder months coming up. I was a little bit hesitant to go into Zara at first as I haven't really liked their summer clothes but once I went in I fell in love with this combined top. It has a flower print on the front and a tartan print on the back which is just so unique and quirky. I also bought a black jumper because I've been looking for a nice, warm one for ages now. On a whim, I tried on these River Island leggings thinking they'd be unflattering on me, but I actually love them!! I feel a little self conscious wearing them with the black jumper though as the jumper is cropped and I'm not used to wearing leggings. However they're comfortable and yet warm and I can't wait to wear them with boots. I've been on the hunt for a college bag that's big enough to fit plenty of A4 paper and folders in, but have so far been unsuccessful until I stumbled upon this beauty from Accessorize. Seeing as black goes with everything I think this was an investment worth making! I love my H&M top as I've admired them for a while. It's quite a loose fit but so comfy and casual! Inspired by Olivia getting these rings and the increasing hype over them on Instagram, I picked up these inexpensive midi rings from River Island. I love them!

What have you bought recently? What was your favourite item from my haul?

Haul! Haul! Haul!

finger top ring - river island // jumper - topshop // jeans - topshop // cami top - topshop

Heya!
So i went shopping and picked up some new bits and pieces. This was all bought with birthday money :-) When i go shopping i'm not usually very successful and i don't usually purchase anything as i am very indecisive. However, it was a happy and successful day!!! Yippee!!

01- These finger top rings are gorgeous! i really like how they feel on and i think they look super pretty. I had heard about them on Instagram and thought i must get them!

02- We all love Topshop frilly socks and these are such pretty colours so i had to get them! I love how pastel they are and will go with pretty much anything and they always look cute with rolled up jeans or skirts.

03- All i can say about this jumper is i am in love! I know it's still summer and hot but as soon as i saw this i wanted it! I will be wearing it a lot this winter and i am excited for it to get colder so i can. I love the material as well, it's not itchy in the slightest and it is nice a thick, yet airy.

04- Now i don't usually buy tops like these, but i really do like this. It's a cute little top that i can wear with anything, literally. It's easy to just pop on and go with a baggy cardigan.

05- I have wanted a top like this is sooo long! I literally love this style. The cut out shoulder tops seem to be quite in style at the moment and i just love how they look and hang on the arms. I also like how casual yet smart they are and it can be worn to many different occasions, from shopping to a meal out :-)

06- Leigh jeans, well what can i say, i love them. I have also wanted some acid jeans for a while now as well so these were a great buy

What have been your favourite clothes purchases recently?

London Haul

Rimmel London - Round and Round the Garden         &         Rimmel London - Marshmallow Heaven

 Cable-knit jumper | Studded jumper | Floral skater skirt | Zip-up skirt

Yesterday, I travelled to Westfields shopping centre in London with my mum for the day. I've never visited before so I was slightly overwhelmed at how huge it was. Urban Outfitters and Topshop were both absolutely gigantic and full to the brim of lovely clothes! I had a really fun day and thought I'd show you the items that I picked up whilst I was there.

All clothing items are from H&M, which is slightly unusual for me as I tend not to think of it as one of my favourite shops because nothing really stands out to me. However, I loved the look of this slouchy Cable-knit jumper as it was perfect for lazy days spent at home but could also be dressed up with pale blue jeans. The grey studded jumper caught my eye in the divided section and I then found the beautiful floral skater skirt nearby and thought the two looked great together when I tried them on. The floral skirt reminded me of something you'd find in Brandy Melville and I loved how the studded jumper toughened up the girly skirt. Lastly, I purchased the skirt with the zip up the front as oxblood is my favourite colour and I thought it was really cute.

Before we left, I made a quick trip into Superdrug and bought two nail polishes. I've been experimenting with different nail polish brands lately and I've taken a liking to Rimmel so I picked up a couple of the colours that caught my eye.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I purchased in London yesterday!

16th Birthday Haul

2 t-shirts from Next // Daisy perfume // Grey Converse // MacBook Pro 13" //Apple Store Card

Hello everyone!
It was my birthday yesterday so i therefore wanted to do a post on the gifts i received from the family. I have received gifts from my friends but am going to do this in a separate post to this one.
I just want to make it clear that i am not bragging about what i got in any way, as i am fully grateful for everything.
I know myself that i love seeing birthday hauls, just because i love knowing what people get hehe!
These are only the main gifts i received, i also have some money and gift vouchers.

Anyway on my birthday i went to Chessington World of Adventures with one of my best friends Sophie, who is the other owner of this blog. I know, 16 and going to Chessington, well i have you know it was one of the best days. It was so so lovely and fun, the weather was good, not too hot and not too cold, and we only had one rain shower. There is also a zoo there if you are not familiar with this and there are theme park rides. It's pretty much 2 for 1. It was a great day!

Just want to thank all my friends and family for making my 16th the best!

imPress Nail Review

As it is summer i thought i would treat myself to some fake nails. I came across this product called imPRESS, which is basically a really affordable set of  fake nails. I got them from Boots but as i am aware they are available from Superdrug as well. These are my second set, the first set i bought were for prom, you can find them here.
I really loved this colour, online they actually look a lot darker but in person they are a lovely shade of pink, but not too pink. They are super easy to apply, you literally just peel off the plastic on the back and stick them on your nail, simple as that. I love the feel of them. I bought the short length as i find really long nails hard to handle, however these aren't too short, or too long, they are just right. I also love how natural they look, not just on the nail but how they feel, it feels like there is nothing stuck on.
The way they are presented in the packaging is adorable, and i really like how original this is.

Disadvantages-
The only thing i disliked was once you had applied the nails on one hand, peeling the plastic off the nails for the other hand was pretty tricky and quite fiddly, but do-able. Apart from that i love them.
